We’re at a point where most everything you read could probably use a fact check or two, especially when it comes to politicians.
That issue seems to be compounded a bit when it comes to guns.
The Chrome extension “Follow the Money” replaces the names of the twenty members of Congress that receive the most NRA-funding to include the amount of money they’ve taken from the gun organization whenever you see them mentioned.
For instance, instead of “John McCain” you’ll see “John ($7,740,521 from the NRA) McCain” whenever his name is mentioned.
The idea is that whatever your view on guns, having that information available in-line whenever you’re reading an article about one of those individuals might help balance your view of whatever the story might be about.
If you want to just see how much money your congressperson has gotten from the NRA but don’t want to see it all the time for everyone, you can also find that information here. (Note: Info in the linked article is for NRA contributions for the year, while the plug-in tracks them over a politicians lifetime).
